Betty L. Churchey Adkins, 90, of Middletown, Maryland passed away after a brief illness on Sept. 26 at Doey’s House.
Betty was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Sharpsburg, Maryland, was the daughter of the late Howard and Edith Churchey, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, and the devoted wife of 71 years to Elmer Adkins, of Middletown, Maryland.

Betty was an active church member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren. Her pride and joy was her family, gardening and cooking. In her early years, she loved working on her Dad’s farm, taking care of the horses and riding the horses. She was employed by Price Electric in Frederick. In her later years, she enjoyed being a housewife and a grandmother to all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Elmer Adkins; daughter: Sheila (Dale) Delauter; grandchildren: Gwyn Delauter, Keith (Trina) Delauter and Dana Amonns; great-grandchildren: Zack (Lauren) Haines, Cole (Courtney) Haines, Jessica (John) Remsberg, Emily Delauter, Kirstin (Jordan) Masser, Layne (Chelsea) Masser, Sierra Amonns and Samuel Amonns; great-great- grandchildren: Coen, Kailee and Evelyn. She is also survived by sister-in-law: June Churchey; and stepsisters: Vickie (Gary) Jones and Carol (Frank) Hood.

In addition to her parents, Howard and Edith Churchey, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, George Churchey.

Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Road, Myersville, Maryland, with Pastors Tim and Donna Ritchey Martin officiating. After the funeral service, a meal to celebrate Betty’s life will be offered in the church parish hall. A private burial for family in Sharpsburg, Maryland, will be later in the day.
