Michael Zecher Arnold, 69, of Frederick, MD passed away on Saturday , September 14, 2019.
Born on August 14, 1950 in Petersville, MD, he was the son of the late George D. and Regina Zecher Arnold and was the second of four sons.. He graduated from Middletown High School in 1968 and started working for Wetnight Electric until he was drafted into the military in 1970. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1974. Upon returning, he worked for Dustin Construction until he became a self-employed home contractor. Michael was a perfectionist in his craft, an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and a friend to people and animals alike, even fostering a wild deer affectionately named Princess.
He is survived by three brothers, David  and Kathleen Arnold, Richard L. and Sally Arnold, Robert Arnold, and his nieces and nephews. Aaron Arnold and Kristin Arnold, Regina and Darnell McClellan, Sara Arnold and fiancée Rich Goodman, and Justin Arnold. He is also survived by great-nieces and great- nephews, Brenden, Colin, and Molly Arnold, and Lana, Jordan and Evan McClellan. He was predeceased by a nephew Harry L. Arnold in 1999.  He is also survived by his dear close friend Vickie Cooley and her family.
The family would also like to thank Fort Detrick, The VA hospital in Martinsburg and the Washington VA Medical Center for providing treatment to Michael for exposure to Agent Orange.
The family will receive friends on Friday September 20 from 6 to 8 PM at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Saturday September 21 from Middletown Volunteer Fire Co. Activities Building, 1 Fireman’s Lane, Middletown.  There will also be a viewing from 10 AM until 11 AM there. Rev. Arthur (Pete) Baugher will officiate. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
