Gordon Lee Lushbaugh, Sr., 84, passed away at his home in Myersville on Friday, May 11. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 66 years, Patsy Jane (Schroyer) Lushbaugh. Gordon was born on November 3, 1933, in Hagerstown, Maryland and was the son of the late Carl and Helen Lushbaugh. After Gordon and Patsy were married on February 2, 1952, they settled in Myersville. Gordon retired in 1995 from Fort Detrick as a licensed electrician. He also did countless residential and commercial electrical projects for many friends, families and businesses throughout the area.

He was a family man, always eager to help his sons and grandchildren with any of their activities or projects, whether they involved hobbies, home or work. Gordon spent endless hours in his fully equipped shop creating any woodworking projects requested by family, friend or his church. He enjoyed camping, model trains, antique gas engines and enjoyed just about anything that required working with his hands. Gordon was known for spending many enjoyable hours talking and telling stories to friends and neighbors always with a great sense of humor.

Gordon was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Catoctin Fish & Game Protective Association and the Myersville Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Lee and his wife Lou Ann and Dale and his wife Jan. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren Lisa (Lushbaugh) Wagoner and husband Matthew, Derek Lushbaugh and wife Melissa, Kara (Lushbaugh) Katsarelis and husband Paul, Tyler Lushbaugh and wife Jocelyn and Jenna Lushbaugh as well as 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Tuesday May 15 from Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the church service on Tuesday. Rev. Michael Beiber will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in Gordon's name to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 603 Main Street, PO Box 299, Myersville, Maryland 21773.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences. Psalms 34 : 18 offers this comfort, " Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit ".
