John Vincent "Jack" McNicholas III, 81, Myersville died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Northampton Manor Nursing Home in Frederick. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Anne "Bette" McNicholas. Born in Youngstown, Ohio on September 18, 1936 he was a son of the late John V. II and Ruth Loftus McNicholas and was raised by his aunt and uncle Henry and Betty McNicholas due to his parents early death.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Community Church, Middletown. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from John Carroll University in University Heights, OhIo in physics. He received his PhD. in physics from Catholic University in Washington, DC and owned and operated Applied Hydro-Acoustics Research Inc. in Gaithersburg until his retirement.

He is survived by three children John V. McNicholas IV of Myersville, Michael J. McNicholas of Leesburg, VA and Marnie E. McNicholas of Myersville, three grandchildren Ryan B. McNicholas of Aldie, VA, Devin M. McNicholas of Leesburg, VA and Jackie B. McNicholas of Myersville and three sisters Mary Rita Carney, Karen Devine, and Kathy Constantini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM on Friday December 1 from Holy Family Catholic Community Church, 7321 Burkittsville Rd., Middletown. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass. Msgr. Robert J. Jaskot will officiate. Interment will be made in Christ Reformed UCC cemetery, Middletown.
