S. Robert "Bob" Buchanan, 73, Middletown died Friday September 8 at his home. He was the husband of Sandra K. Buchanan whom he married on March 27, 1973. Born in Rahway, NJ on August 7, 1944 he was the son of the late Henry Ohning and Louise Betts Buchanan. He was employed in Insurance Risk Management and Auto Wholesales; graduated from high school in Pleasant Hill CA; attended Chico State in Chico, CA and served in the US Coast Guard from 1962 to 1966.

He loved his family, golf and ministry. He was a member of New Hope Fellowship Church in Frederick. Surviving, besides his wife, are four sons William R. Buchanan (Dee) of Middletown, Jeffery D. Buchanan (Julie) of Myersville, Robert S. Buchanan (Tamara) and David H. Buchanan (Sue) of Bel Air. He was predeceased by a son Dennis Buchanan. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Abby L., Ellen L, Jacob D., Samuel R. and Grayson S. Buchanan and two sisters, Sarah Kawakami of CA and Susan Ukovich of IL.

The family will receive friends on Monday September 11 from 6 to 8 PM at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Tuesday September 12 from Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Mddletown. Pastor Darren Gerald , Pastor Verna Wilson, Rev. Dr. Kathy Vitalis Hoffman will officate. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown Valley Athletic Association, 31 W. Main St., #2A, Middletown, MD 21769

Sandy and family, I want to extend my condolences to you all. I loved Bob like a brother and I truly shall miss him. But, I know he's in heaven rejoicing with the Lord. God bless you all and give you comfort in this your time of need.

We are so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Our sincerest sympathy and condolences go out to you and your entire family. Although we have been away from Middletown for many years, we have such fond memories of all of you and the years we knew you, Bob and the kids. Sandy and Family, We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Brother Bob.
Bob was very likeable and had such a positive influence on those that knew him. We will certainly miss him and his pleasant personality.
Sandy, we pray that God will give you strength to endure during this most difficult time.

My sincerest sympathy to the family of Bob Buchanan. My husband had worked with him years ago. He was so nice and happy all the time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May God bless you and comfort you.
