Sarah Jane Grossnickle, 74, Middletown died Tuesday February 14 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Gene Wade Grossnickle. Born in Arnoldstown on November 8, 1942 she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Faye Fink Miller. She was employed as deli manager with Weis Market for twenty-six years and had been employed with Weis for a total of thirty-four years.

She is survived by two children Donna Jean Summers and Michael Wade Grossnickle and wife Stephanie Shafer - all of Middletown, Three grandchildren; Shannon Wade Summers, Timothy Michael Grossnickle, Clayton Wade Grossnickle, Two step-grandchildren Connor and Vincent Grossman, Three sisters Catherine Parson of Alabama, Virginia Himes of Frederick and Martha Zecher of Burkittsville. She was predeceased by a sister Mary Alice Moser and two brothers Charles Miller and Richard "Tater" Miller.

The family will receive friends on Friday February 17 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 18 at 11 AM from the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Rd., Myersville. Rev. Donna and Tim Ritchey Martin will officiate. Interment will be made in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick County Humane Society, 1832 Rosemont Ave, Frederick, MD 21702 or to the American Cancer Society @ cancer.org
