Clarence Kephart Thomas, 91, of Middletown, MD died Thursday November 17, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of the late Daisy A. Palmer Thomas. They were married for fifty-five years.
Born on the family farm in the Boonsboro area, later moving to South Main St. in Boonsboro he was a son of the late Joseph Sr. and Susan Kephart Thomas.
He met Daisy A. Palmer in 1957; they were married November 21, 1959, and he instantly got a wife, two sons and a daughter.
Known to most as "Tom", "Pap", or "Mr. Tom" to his friends at Dempsey's Grill in Middletown, where he could be be found every morning for coffee and local news.
Tom worked at Boonsboro Farm & Equipment Center, Reed Ford, Middletown AMVETS, and finally retiring at Ingalls Lumber and Supply Co in Middletown.
He was a member of the Belvedere Yacht Club for over forty years and served many years as the club treasurer. He was past Commodore of Belvedere and a member of the Chesapeake Commodores Club, United States Coast Guard Auxillary, and a life member of the Catoctin Fish and Game Protective in Myersville. He and Daisy spent many hours on their boat enjoying the bay and their extended family at Belvedere.
Tom is survived by step-daughter Wanda L. Brandenburg and husband Charles; step-son Gary E. Palmer and wife Lauren; daughter-in-law Sue Palmer.
Grandchildren: Lee R. Palmer and wife Carrie; Terry T. Palmer and wife Elaine; Dale Palmer and companion Reese Mongeon: Stacey Owens and husband Jesse; Melissa Palmer and companion Donald Tiffany.
Great-Grandchildren: Trinity Owens, Carlee Owens, Brody Palmer, Jameson Palmer, Reese Palmer and Camden McCall, Bret Palmer
He was predeceased by his step-son Larry R. Palmer; brother Joseph Thomas Jr. and was the last of his immediate family.
The family will receive friends on Monday November 21 from 6 to 8 PM at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Tuesday November 22 from Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Middletown. There will also be a viewing one hour prior to the church service on Tuesday. Rev. Ron Reaves will officiate. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
