Mr. Richard Martin, Frederick, Maryland, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. He was the husband of Ann Younkins Martin, his wife of almost 61 years. Born January 22, 1933, in Wolfsville, he was a son of the late Richard A. Martin and Gladys S. Martin. He was a direct descendent of Johan Stephen Martin, a German immigrant who arrived in America in 1751. He was a graduate of Middletown High School, class of 1952. Richard Martin was a retired vice president of Farmers and Mechanics National Bank with 41 years of service and a long time manager of the Frederick Town Mall Bank Office. He was a member of the Advisory Board for Farmers and Mechanics Bank and a Charter member and past Treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S, Army. He was a member of Francis Scott Key Post #11 of the American Legion, Amvets Post #2, and COL. William E. Weber Korean Veterans Chapter #142. Mr. Martin was a long time member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown, MD, having served a number of terms as Elder and Deacon. He also was a member of the following: Sgt. Lawrence Everhart Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), District of Columbia Commandary of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (MOLLUS), Antietam Camp # 3 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW), and Descendants of Mexican War Veterans (DMWV). He was very active in genealogy research and in gardening. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Carol Moorefield of Altavista, VA and a son Kevin Martin and his wife Rosemary of Frederick; two sisters, Doris Fogle of Wolfsville, MD and Elizabeth McHugh and her husband James of Charleston, SC, and a brother Ronald Martin and his wife Sherry of Jefferson, MD; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Moorefield of Altavista, VA, two grandsons, Martin Moorefield of Altavista, VA and Tyler Martin of Frederick, MD; and a great-grandson Brian Thomas of Altavista, VA. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the chapel at Christ Reformed UCC, 12 South Church Street, Middletown, MD. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Christ Reformed UCC, Middletown , MD with the Rev. Mark Wakefield officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Memorial Fund of Christ Reformed UCC, P. O. Box 333, Middletown, MD 21769; Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Avenue, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702; or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted to Donald B.
