Regina Elizabeth Arnold, age 89, died Wednesday afternoon on April 9, 2014. She was the wife of the late Geore David Arnold who died on June 8, 2010. They were married for 63 years. Born on December 31, 1924 on Arnoldstown Road at 11:45 PM, she was the daughter of the late George and Leola Compher Zecher. She was the last of her immediate family.

Regina was the youngest of the Zecher children. She attended school in Burkittsville and graduated from Middletown High School with the class of 1941. She met George at her church's social dinner. She and George were married on December 28, 1946. Being a farmer's wife for many years, she loved raising chickens and providing eggs to her customers. Regina had a lifelong passion for cooking and feeding anyone who stopped in to visit. Her love was raising and caring for her four sons and then the grandchildren and great grandchildren that followed. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burkittsville. She served as their organist for many years and up until recently, played the piano for the Sunday School class. She was also a three time survivor of cancer.

The family would like to thank her companions and caretakers, Willie Vargas and Marian Cochran. How Regina looked forward to joining in with Food and Friends on Thursdays in Feagaville. An additional thanks to Hospice of Frederick Co. and Gail Miglio.

She is survived by her sons, David F. Arnold and Kathleen Arnold, Michael Z. Arnold, Richard L. and Sally Arnold, and Robert E. and Kimberly Arnold, grandchildren Aaron and Kristin Arnold, Regina and Darnell McClellan, Sara Arnold, and Justin Arnold. Great grandchildren include Brenden and Colin Arnold and Lana and Jordan McClellan. She loved growing up with her many nieces and nephews, especially Mary Margaret Brandenburg. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Harry Lee Arnold on October 11, 1999 and her brothers and sister and their spouses, Paul and Margaret Zecher, Marceline and Drexel Guyton, Melvin and Grace Zecher, and Harold and Sarah Zecher and Donald and Beatrice Zecher. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons, David, Michael, Richard, Robert, Aaron and Justin.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burkittsville with Pastor Kimberly Nunberg officiating. The viewing will be an hour prior to the service. Interment will be made at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to St.Paul's Lutheran Church, C/O Gloria Wolfe, 8301 Hollow Rd. Middletown, MD 21769. Dear Richard, Sally and Sara
So sorry for your loss. She is so happy now at rest and peace and running around renewing friendships and family relations.
She'll be with George and they have a lot to catch up on.
