Mrs. Dorothy Mae Grable Ketterman, 89, Frederick, died Wednesday October 2 at Glade Valley Nursing Home in Walkersville with her daughter by her side. She was the beloved wife of the Late Daniel S. Ketterman who predeceased her in 2008, after 65 years of marriage.

Born March 6, 1924 in Frederick County she was a daughter of the late George Daniel and Clara Kaufman Grable. She was a loving wife and mother and was a homemaker most of her life.  She loved to bake, sew, and make homemade everything.  She also loved playing bingo and going to yard sales.  Her grandsons and her great-granddaughters were her pride and joy.

She is survived by:

3 children - Daniel S. Ketterman and Ann of Pueblo, CO; David L. Ketterman and wife Diane - Sharpsburg; Darlene A. Hedges of Middletown and son-in-law John K. Hedges - of PA

5 grandsons - Daniel S. Ketterman III and wife Kammy, John W. Ketterman and wife Jennifer - of Norfolk, VA; Joshua D. Ketterman and family of Hagerstown; Kevin H. Hedges and wife Murissa of Smithsburg; Jeremy K. Hedges - Middletown

2 great-granddaughters - Virginia and Samantha Ketterman - Norfolk, Va; one great-grandson due next month and two step-great-grandchildren Coulby and Caroline Kulina - Smithsburg

1 sister - Helen Grable Shorb - Thurmont

She is also survived by many nieces , nephews, friends and a daughter-in-law Betty Ketterman - Norfolk, VA

She was predeceased by the following siblings : Hazel, Raymond, Charles, Leroy, Merhl, Willie, Bruce and Clarence Grable.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM on Saturday October 5 at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31E. Main St., Middletown.  Graveside funeral services will be held 2 PM Sat. in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown. Rev. David Brown will officiate.

Floral tributes are welcome or donations to the funeral home to help defray funeral costs.
