Mr. Tyler Joseph Shaw, 20, Middletown, died Saturday January 22, 2011 at Meritas Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born in Frederick, April 1, 1990 he was a son of Mark Joseph and Melissa Dawn Shores Shaw of Middletown.
Tyler was employed as a auto mechanic with Sharrett Automotive Group in Hagerstown. He loved drag racing, hunting, and hanging out out with his friends. He was a 2008 graduate of Middletown High School and was the placekicker on the football team.
Surviving, besides his parents, are:
1 brother - E. Allen Summers Jr. - Middletown
maternal grandfather - George Shores - Middletown
paternal grandmother - Rose Henley - State Line, PA
paternal grandparents - Larry and Joan Shaw - Frederick
3 uncles - Clint Shaw and friend Tammy - Middletown; Carey Henley Jr. and daughter Kendall - Hedgesville, WV; Billy Shores - Clinton, MD
and several nices and nephews
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Peggy L. Shores and his step-grandfather - Carey Henley Sr.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 25 at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main st., Middletown from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Wednesday January 26 from Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Middletown. Rev. Tim May will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to charity of one's choice.

To my dear friend, at a time when there are no right words, there is only love - hopefully enough to ease the pain of such a loss. Love to sustain, to hold you up, to give you hope, and to help you through this time of sorrow. Why? There is no answer that would make sense of what has happened, only an empty question. Any answer would only lead to more questions. Only God can ease the pain and I pray that He do that quickly and take the pain away. I was Tyler's camp counselor many years ago @ Middletown Park. I would never had remembered any of those children's names. Except Tyler Shaw. What an amazing little spirit. He was my favorite little helper. He loved looking for crawfish in the lake and playing flag football. I will always remember him as just the type of boy I would like to have as my own son. I often thought of him throughout the years. I am so sorry to hear he has left you, but I am positive he lit a special spark in everyone he came across, as he did for me. What a wonderful person I was so blessed to know for a brief period of time.

Dearest Mark and Melissa. My warmest thoughts and prayers are with you both. This does not seem the correct order that things occur but children are on loan from God and our father called him home. My son, Jake, was just 10 and wanted to be at the golf course all the time and he would tell me, "Don't worry Mom, Tyler's there." And Tyler was indeed there, hanging out, giving Jake rides home or to my store, etc. Our family got to know Tyler that summer --- what an all around great guy. Every time I saw him, he made me laugh. He will be missed. We are so sorry for his loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Tyler was a friend and fellow worker for years at Hollow Creek Golf, we worked together especially on Sunday evenings. He was a gentleman to our customers and I admired his spirit and humor, he always made our work fun. We always got the job done. Thanks Tyler,I will miss your friendship.
