Kathryn McKee Giebel, age 90, daughter of the late Georgeanna and A.B. McKee died peacefully at her home in Frederick, Md.

Kathryn is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Jim Giebel and her children: Georgeanna Matson, Jim (and Sharon) Giebel, Kathy (and Tim) Corbett, Ken Giebel(and friend Laura Nunes), and Mary (and Joe) Keimig. She is also survived by her beloved 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Kathryn had a career at Woodworth and Lothrop in McLean, VA and the Central Intelligence Agency at Langely, VA while raising her 5 children.

The viewing will be held from 5 to 7pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St. in Middletown MD, (Alternate 40), 301-371-6070.

Funeral services and Mass will be held at St.John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 112 E 2nd Street, Frederick, MD, 21701, 301-662-8288, on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave. Silver Spring, MD 20906, 301-871-6500.

I never had the pleasure to meet KayKay, but there were so many pleasant things said about her I am sure she will be missed. I pray for all those who are suffering the loss of such a well-thought-of person.

We have never met Kathryn, but knew her only from the stories from Jim and Sharon. "A sunset on Earth is a sunrise in Heaven." May all the sunshine that she has spread keep you warm with her memories.
