Mr. Robert M. "Bob" Lenhart, 72, Middletown died suddenly Thursday July 23, 2009 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley Delauter Lenhart. They were married for 53 years.
Born in Montgomery County, September 28, 1936 he was a son of the late Lewis D. and Mary Hawse Lenhart.
He was a member of Middletown United Methodist Church; the Middletown Volunteer Fire Co. where he had served as a director, ambulance driver, squad truck and fire policeman. He was also a member of the ladies auxillary of the fire co. He was an avid bowler and was a former member of South Side bowling league in Hagerstown. He also attended the coffee club at McDonald's.
He was a devoted husband and loved his family.
Surviving, besides his, wife, are:
2 children - Debbie Morton and husband Richard - Frederick and Douglas Lenhart and wife Debbie - Wolfsville
1 granddaughter - Amanda Lenhart
1 great-grandson - Billy Lenhart
2 sisters - Mary Ellen Eaton and husband Bill - Frederick and Peggy Skeen and husband Ray - Grovetown, GA
and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters : Herbert E. Thompson, Pearl Welch, James R. Lenhart, Ruth E. Lenhart, Lewis D. Lenhart Jr.
The family will receive friends on Saturday July 25 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday July 26 from the Middletown United Methodist Church, 7108 Fern Lane, Middletown. Rev. Dr. Susan Halse will officiate. Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran cemetery, Middletown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown Volunteer Fire Co. or Auxillary; Middletown United Methodist Church or to Flint Hill United Methodist Church, 2732 Parks Mill Rd., Adamstown, MD 21710
Pallbearers are: Punk Delauter, Butch Delauter, Donald Lemarr, Wayne "Bubba" Leatherman, Glendale Simons, Matt Bridges. Honorary pallbearers, all member of Middletown Volunteer Fire Co, will be: Brent Harne, Brian Beaulieu, Robbie Riley, Steve Nalborczyk, Steve Leatherman, Brent Smith.
