Mrs. Barbara Ann Walling, 89, Crofton, died Wednesday July 14 at assisted Living Well in Millersville from complications associated with Alzheimer's. She was the wife of Lt. Col. (USA Ret.) Riley Walter Walling who died in 1998. They were married in Reedsburg, Wisconsin on March 5, 1942 and had celebrated 55 years of marriage at the time of his death.
She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, November 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Howard and Antonie Emma Jaeger Wensole. She was a military wife and glo popper had lived or travelled to all 50 states and lived in Europe for several years.
She was a founder, charter member and inaugural president of the Severna Park Women's Bowling Association and had served as the Maryland delegate to the Women's International Bowling Congress. She was a rock hound, amateur prospector, avid fisherman, and birdwatcher. She was also an actress and was active in community theatre.
She is survived by her son - William S. Walling and his wife Colleen - Crofton
2 granddaughters - Tracy Renee Walling and Lindsay Ann Walling.
She was predeceased by her daughter Janet K. Deal on November 23, 1969.
Memorial services will be held 3 PM on thursday July 22 from St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church 1120 Spa Rd.,in Annapolis. Rev. Gerald Miller will officiate. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
