Robert Roy Moody passed away on May 2 following a brief illness.  He was born on New Year’s Eve in Santa Rita, New Mexico to H. Hurchell Moody and Florence Switzer.

Robert was the third of four children.  As a young man he joined the United States Navy, became a machinist mate, and served in the Vietnam War.  While in the Navy, Robert met Susan and married her six months later.  Following his honorable discharge, Robert earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico.  He graduated in three years while also working full-time to support his young family.  Shortly thereafter he earned his Professional Engineering license.

Robert and his family lived throughout the United States before settling in Middletown, Maryland.  Even though he lived on the East Coast for nearly thirty years, he always considered himself a Westerner and often reminded his family that New Mexico was “God’s Country.”  Robert also travelled extensively in his life visiting nearly all 50 states and six continents.  But his favorite place was at home with his beloved wife, adored children, and cherished grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Norma Farley, and granddaughter Hannah Clark.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years Susan (Wall) Moody; children Carol (Kevin) Clark, James (Dawn) Moody, Debbie (Matt) Fegley, and Patti (Stephen) McCay; his grandchildren Sean, Kiera, Julia, Sarah, Liam, Thomas, Jonah, Bridget, Ryan, Aidan, James, Will, and Paul; his sister Bonnie Blobaum and brother Johnny Moody; and numerous nieces and nephews.  A visitation will be held on Monday, May 8 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Community in Middletown, Maryland.  A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. Msgr. Robert Jaskot will officiate. Interment will be made at a later date.
