Mr. Wayne Eugene Huffer, 78, of Broad Run, Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday August 20, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Jacquelyn P. Huffer for 59 years.

Born on November 3, 1934 at Ft. Meade he was a son of the late Eugene and Margaret Fulmer Huffer.

Wayne served in the US Army 7th Infantry Division 31st Battery C-A Arty. during the Korean conflict and then was stationed in Honolulu HI.  he was a member of AMVETS Post #9; past president of the Burkittsville Ruritan Club and in previous years served as sales manager for the Frederick County  4-H beef, sheep and swine sales at the Frederick Fair.  He was also a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Burkittsville until his retirement.  He was a self-employed building contractor in the Columbia and Gaithersburg area.  In his spare time he enjoyed farming and raising angus cattle and in his later years enjoyed spending time fishing and crabbing at his summer home in Delaware.

Surviving, besides his wife, are:

2 sons - Michael E. Huffer and wife Melissa and Randy W. Huffer and his companion Andrea Stossle.

4 grandchildren - Matthew L. Huffer, Morgan D. Huffer, Megan D. Huffer and Ryan W. Huffer

1 great-grandson - Carter Z. Metz

2 brothers - Jay Wendell Huffer and wife Anne - Hagerstown; Samm O. Huffer - Frederick

1 sister - Sheila Webber and husband Harold - Broad Run

1 sister-in-law - Harriet Pryor - Hagerstown

and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Meredith Huffer and a grandson Bradley M. Huffer.

The family will receive friends on Friday August 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Saturday August 24 from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burkittsville. Rev. Kimberly Nunberg, pastor, and Rev. Veronica D. Webber, his niece, will officiate.  Interment will be made in Christ Reformed Church cemetery next to his grandson in Middletown.
