Mrs. Margaret Lou Toms, 78, Middletown, died Monday November 12 at her home.  She was the wife of Donald Lee Toms who died September 6, 2001.

Born in Dargan, MD, October 24, 1934 she was a daughter of the late Julian Herman and Lottie Mabel Grimm Shawyer. She was employed at Newberry's Dept. Store in Hagerstown; Hanover Shoe Co. in Middletown;  at High's in Middletown and as a cook at the Dan-Dee Restaurant in Frederick. She enjoyed flower gardens and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by:

2 daughters - Donna Toms and husband Ronnie Toms Jr. - Middletown and Deborah Wilk and husband Earl - West Virginia

1 brother - Rev. Granville Shawyer and wife Vicky - Baltimore

7 grandchildren

6 great-grandchildren

She is also survived by 36 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by the following brothers and sisters: J. Austin Shawyer, Agatha Knight Kneupar, Doris Shawyer, Baby Boy Shawyer, Glenn Shawyer.

The family will receive friends on Thursday November 15 from 6 to 8 PM. at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.  Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Friday November 16 from the funeral home.  Rev. Steve Rose will officiate.  Interment will be made in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the John R. Marsh Cancer Center, Suite 129, Robinwood Professional Center, 1110 Medical Campus Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740
